God Works In Mysterious Ways...

Being a single mother and the only bread winner is not easy (as many of you know).  I was having a really hard time financially and my home was slowly deteriorating because I couldn’t afford to do the maintenance on it that was needed.  I had to have a new roof put on which completely depleted all my funds (I actually had to borrow some money from a friend to get it done.)
After that I finally decided “F!*# it, it’s time to let it go.”.  I had been divorced for 18 years at the time and trying to do it all myself had taken its toll.  I quit making my mortgage payments for two months.  The beginning of the third month I decided I better make the payment anyway rather than lose the only thing I owned.
I was on my way to the Vet with my cat who was very ill.  My cell phone rings, “Colleen its Gregg, is everything ok?”.  It was my ex-husband.  I was surprised because although we were still friendly, we rarely spoke and he NEVER called just to see how I was.  “Not so good.” I replied, “I think I’m gonna have to have my cat put down.”.  He expressed sympathy and then said, “What’s up with the house?”  “What do you mean?” I said.  “Well, I just got a foreclosure notice for your house!” he said.  And to his surprise I said, “Thank God.  I’m so sick of that place!”.  Needless to say he was confused by my reply.  We neither one could figure out why he received the foreclosure notice, his name hadn’t been on the house since we split!
I didn’t know what to do next and really didn’t care anymore.  We talked about it for awhile when he made a suggestion.  “Did you know I just got my Real Estate License?” he asked.  I had no idea that he had done that, I congratulated him.  He then proceeded to tell me how to do a Short Sale, which I had never even heard of at that time.  He set me up with a specialist in Short Sales and my home sold in three months, I was out of debt for the first time in years!
I now live in an apartment where I can call maintenance when things aren’t working (and never have to mow the grass again!).  It may not sound like a good thing but it WAS the answer to my prayers.
